Global Strategy Insitute

The Global Strategy Institute (GSI) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is dedicated to promoting long-range thinking about the big global issues that lie before us.  It seeks to encourage a creative and far-sighted outlook at a time when short-term pressures on leadership are all the more onerous, the complexities of decision-making all the more daunting, and the challenges of expanding planning horizons all the more formidable.

GSI focuses on long-range global trends.  To this end, it carries out research, hosts seminars and conferences, and generates publications and presentation aimed at assessing the forces shaping political, economic, and social trends across the world.  We take a 50,000-foot view by examining the strategic forces at work and how those forces interact.

Through active outreach, the institute seeks to promote strategic thinking among leaders across sectors.  We work to raise the level of understanding on looming global challenges and to engage the best possible thinkers in discussion on long-term trends.  In the process, we hope to shape a better and brighter future.
