Mustafa Shafi Riffat is an investment banker with Citigroup, in the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities division of the Institutional Clients Group, where he focuses on asset-backed securitization.  Prior to this, he worked in the Strategy & Planning division of Citigroup's Corporate and Investment Bank. Mustafa graduated from Columbia University in 2004, with a B.A. in Economics and a concentration in Middle East and Asian Languages and Cultures.  He spent the summer of 2002 studying Arabic at the Language School of Middlebury College.  While at Columbia, he interned at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York where he worked with the U.S./Middle East Project.  His work at the Council focused on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, specifically the peace process and strengthening governmental institutions in the Palestinian Territories. Mustafa is a member of Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs) in London.  He has also been an active member of Seeds of Peace, a non-profit group devoted to promoting conflict resolution, coexistence, and understanding among youth from some of the most difficult conflict regions of the globe.  Prior to this, he was involved in Global Kids, an organization designed to transform urban youth into global and community leaders through exposure to international and foreign policy issues. Born in New York City, where he currently resides, he grew up overseas including five years in Istanbul, Turkey, followed by five years in Cairo, Egypt.
