Ali graduated MIT with dual degrees in Management and Political Science. He now serves as a Junior Fellow in the China Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
While at MIT, he founded Forum on American Progress, a nonpartisan student organization that aims to enhance discussion of American foreign policy at the Institute, and the MIT International Review (http://web.mit.edu/mitir), a journal that spotlights solutions to global problems.
Ali interned at the Global Strategy Institute the summer of his sophomore year, and continues to serve as a research assistant to Professor Graham Allison, Director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School.
He frequently writes commentaries for newspapers and journals, and serves as a foreign policy columnist for Human Rights and Human Welfare. An essay of his, "Public Opinion and Power," will be appearing in the forthcoming Routledge Handbook on Public Diplomacy (Routledge: London, 2008).
